Kathleen Halstead (Buntrock Hume) - Class Of 1955 VIEW PROFILE

Hume, Kathleen Buntrock (Nee Halstead) Born to Eternal Life on May 19, 2012. Preceded in death by Thomas Buntrock. Survived by devoted husband of 30 years, Peter Hume, and loving sons Jeff of Gonzalez, LA; Chris (Clare) of Minneapolis; Mark (Mary) of Grafton; and Daniel (Chris) of Cedarburg, as well as many sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and lifelong friends. Kathy was born on April 5, 1937 to Elsie Halstead. She grew up in Milwaukee, and graduated from Washington High School in 1955. She married Thomas E. Buntrock on April 6, 1957 and shortly thereafter began her primary vocation in life as a devoted mother to her four sons. As a young mother, she attended nursing school, and graduated with an L.P.N. For the remainder of her professional years, she balanced her life as a homemaker with a fulfilling career as a pediatric nurse, where she was highly regarded by all patients and staff whose lives she touched. When her first husband was killed in the line of duty, her gracious acceptance of tragedy and attitude of forgiveness set a tone that allowed her sons and the community to heal in the face of heartbreak. On Sept. 22, 1982 she married Peter Hume who was immediately assimilated into a busy life of multiple weddings, grandchildren, birthdays, soccer games, confirmations, and graduations; these were usually associated with a party thrown by Kathy, complete with infinite varieties of baked goods that were anticipated and relished. She spoiled her daughters-in-law and her nine grandchildren beyond reason, most especially with the gift of her total devotion and loyalty. She faced life with courage, zest, and an unrelenting sense of humor that was infectious. Even in the face of Alzheimer's Dementia, she was cheerful and buoyant in a way that could only be understood as the core goodness of her spirit shining through. Through the difficult years that preceded her death, all the love that she bestowed upon the world was returned to her tenfold, especially as her husband Peter cared for her at home as long as humanly possible. Though Kathy will be profoundly missed, the loving kindness of her spirit lives on in all family members and friends whom she touched during her life. Visitation Friday, May 25, 2012, from 4-7 PM at Schramka - Densow, 423 N. Main Street, Thiensville. Mass will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 10 AM, at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 138 N. Buntrock Ave., Thiensville. Private family burial to follow. Special thanks and gratitude to the loving supportive staff at Lasata Care Center. Memorials preferred to Lumen Christi Catholic Church, or the .
