Charles Hofbauer - Class Of 1944

Hofbauer, Charles, RPh Of Menomonee Falls, passed peacefully into Eternal Life on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the age of 85 years. Loving husband of Annegretel (nee Koch), of twenty-five years. Proud father of Charleen (John) Winters, James (Karen), John (Mary) and Thomas (Greeta). Stepfather to Lori (Larry) Bergum, Barbara (Rick), Garrett, Donald (fiancée Barbara), Sager, and Robert "Henry" Sager. Caring grandpa of eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Dr. Thomas A. (Sandy) Hofbauer and Jan (late William) Tews. Further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Arleen (nee Behrendt) and grandson Robert C. Hofbauer. Charles was the founder of the Serv-U Pharmacy chain. Starting with Oakland Pharmacy in 1957, Charles, using his astute business sense, was able to purchase 21 more stores until the chain reached a total of 22 pharmacies, making it the largest chain of independent pharmacies in the state. Charles worked mainly at the Health Center Pharmacy in Menomonee Falls. He retired in 2002, but remained active in the business end of the Serv-U Pharmacy Chain. Visitation for Charles will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012, at the funeral home from 3 PM until time of funeral services at 7 PM. Private inurnment at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield, WI. Special thanks to the Comfort Care Staff at Froedtert Health Community Memorial Hospital for the compassion and concern shown to Charles.
