Wayne J. Masnica, 82, of Salem passed away Monday, July 9, 2018, at his home. 

Wayne was born Feb. 11, 1936, to John and Mary (nee Kosik) Masnica in Milwaukee, Wis. His early life was spent in Milwaukee where he graduated from Washington High School. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 through 1956. Following his time in the service he attended UWM. On May 5, 1962, he was united in marriage to Arlene Schweninger in Milwaukee, Wis. Following their marriage they resided in Milwaukee before moving to Bristol in 1971, they have resided in Salem the past 16 years. Wayne worked as a medical sales professional. Wayne was active in his community; he was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bristol, a member of The American Legion- Silver Lake, Kiwanis, Bristol Strivers 4H leader, and was a member and past president with the Bristol School Board. 

Wayne is survived by Arlene, his wife of 56 years, children: Michael (Heidi Schultz) Masnica, Therese (Marc) Hujik, Debra (Mark) Andrekus and Kristin (Terry) Kolodzik, grandchildren: Alexa Hujik, Tyler (Fiancé Alexandra Vossen) Hujik, Sydney Hujik, Samuel Andrekus, Hannah (Aaron) Wroblewski, Cole (Bailey) Andrekus, Luke Andrekus, Alex Kolodzik, Noah Kolodzik and Elaina Kolodzik . He is further survived by his sister Denise (Pat) Piché, other relatives and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents. 

The family has suggested memorials be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church or Vince Lombardi Cancer Center Aurora, Kenosha.

Wayne's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff at the Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, for all their care and compassion. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 6 p.m., at the Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Witz officiating. Full Military Honors will follow. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, July 12, from 4 p.m. until 5:45 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery.
