Jim was my brother in law, I first knew him when he was 13. He graduated from Washington,went to collage in Milwaukee.He then moved to New York and became a author of short stories and poems.He passed away while waiting for a lung transplant at the age of 46.He was a fine man. Jack Schirmer.
Jim Sorcic went to UW-Milwaukee and was often seen in local places that featured poetry written by locals. After my US Army stint ended in 1973, I also attended UWM and shared poetry with him during workshops and other functions. He was published in several anthologies of the 1970's that featured the Milwaukee Poets (or the Brady street troupe, as they were called in those days, led by Eddie the Poet.) He also was a contributing writer to Milwaukee's Kaleidescope until it folded in 1971.
