Glendale, WI - Husband and best friend of Susan (nee Benton) for 40 years. David is preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert and Marie (nee Wolf) Bednar. Survived by his family, Gary (Lynn) Benton, Jeff (Mary) Benton, Todd (Jane) Benton and nephews, Nathan and Zachary. David died Saturday December 18, 2021 at the age of 74 years after a long struggle with post-polio with his wife at his side.
David retired after 43 years from Printing & Business Solutions (formerly, Robertson's, Inc.) and served in US Army. At an early age, David, studied piano at the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music, cello at Washington High School, music therapy and composition at UW-Milwaukee, and eventually returned to the Conservatory, studying with LaRita Schoor. His passion for composition brought alliances with the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Theatre X, Paradox Studio Theatre and Paul Krajniak productions. He collaborated many local dance students and performance artists. David's other hobbies included woodworking, fishing and Irish Terriers.
Memberships included Legion Post 219, the Irish Terrier Club of America, the Irish Terrier Club of Chicago and Celtic Canines of Milwaukee's Irish Fest.
David will be lovingly remembered by his dearest friends, Jeff Furst, Mic Terry and Cliff Muehlenberg; David and Vera Skinner and Jim and Vicki Demerath, the Best/Newhauser family; and goddaughters, Amy (nee Furst) Schroeder, and Elise Muehlenberg; and "Neighbor-Girl" Nicole Skinner.
Irish Terriers Gracie, Gael and Eoin will miss "The King of Treats".
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Fisher House-Milwaukee VA, 5000 W. National Ave., Bldg 150, Milwaukee, WI 53295.
