Jeffrey was born in Milwaukee to Lynn R. Wertz and June V. Wertz (nee Schultz) August 18, 1942. Jeff was united with his Savior November 3, 2018. Beloved husband of Karen M. Wertz (nee Wakefield). Loving father of Jeffrey M. Wertz and (Katherine D.Rhyme) and John C. Wertz. Dear brother of Lynn Wertz, Mark and Ann (nee Abshire) Wertz. Special brother-in-law of Terry and Dona (nee Panaro) Wakefield, Mark Wakefield and Denise Boucher, Bill and Jean (nee Broderick) Dineen, Hugh and Janet (nee Frye) Wakefield. Cherished uncle to Chris and Laura (nee Wertz) Jackson, Jamie Wertz, Bert Wertz, Matthew Wertz, Taylor and (Lauren) Wakefield, John Wakefield, William Wakefield, Paul and (Robin) Wakefield, Matthew Wakefield, Megan Lawler, John and (Tina) Lawler, Molly Dineen, JC Dineen, Shiloh (nee Wakefield) and (TJ) Carr, Elizabeth Wakefield and (Jeramie VandenHeuvel), Theresa Wakefield, and Kathleen Wakefield, and many other cousins. Preceded in death by brother-in-law Joseph R. Wakefield, sister-in-law Katherine Broderick, and nephew Joseph Lawler.

Jeff grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Washington High School in 1961. He went on to earn his BS in Geography and an MS in Social Work. Jeff was an excellent athlete competing in basketball, football, baseball and track. He also loved to play golf. Jeff loved helping people and talking to people, he was a great communicator. He was a simple man with a great capacity for knowledge. What Jeff loved most was being with his family: working on projects around the house with his boys just talking to them and discussing what was going on in the world; watching sports and, his annual fishing trip with his friends from LCFS. He was a wonderful husband and a special dad. Jeff became a real estate agent with Shorewest Realtors and managed several of their offices. Jeff loved working for Shorewest, enjoyed teaching new agents and helping his agents resolve problems. He will be missed by many. God Bless Him!

Visitation will take place on Friday, November 9 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at St. Robert Catholic Church, corner of N. Farwell Ave. and E. Capitol Dr., Shorewood. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jeff’s name may be made to North Shore Special Olympics, 1008 Woodview, Grafton, WI, 53024.
