Carole Ann Jenkins

Carole Ann Jenkins departed this life on February 6, 2021, surrounded by loving family at the home of her grandson Lucas White in Kernersville, North Carolina. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years David L. Jenkins. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 8, 1941, Carole, the sister of Terry Thomas, Bonnie Thomas Ricchio, and Diane Thomas, became the mother of Stacie M. Jenkins, Jonell L. White, and Carrie G. Todd and grandmother of Jacob and Lucas White and Shane and Tara Todd. Although born and raised in the Midwest, Carole and Dave spent most of their married lives in the actual West in Corsicana, Texas. As a registered labor and delivery nurse and certified nurse-midwife, if she did not deliver the entire current population of Corsicana and Ennis, Texas, it was not from lack of effort. Late in the game, she and Dave, sharing a love of old-time music, realized a long-held dream and purchased a second home in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Galax, Virginia, overlooking the site of the country's oldest annual Fiddlers Convention. Naturally, Carole took up the fiddle, and each year she and Dave hosted throngs of musicians of varying stripe, including the rich and famous, who needed a place to rest, to enjoy a fix of some fine home cooking or just to sit around and play music on a comfortable porch out of the spotlight. Carole was a perpetual fountain of goodness and poured out love, kindness, and comfort on everyone who came into her orbit, and those who were fortunate enough to know her are sustained by that memory. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and out of an abundance of love and concern for our family and friends a memorial service will not be held. The family requests, in lieu of flowers or other memorials, friends make a donation to Catholic Charities USA (catholiccharitiesusa.org) or to a local charity of their own choosing, which provides shelter, prenatal and birthing care to the indigent.
