Robert S. "Bob" Atcheson Obituary

Robert S. "Bob" Atcheson, age 78, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1983, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born March 10, 1940 in Gary, IN.

Beloved husband of Patricia Atcheson (nee Fremon), whom he married July 7, 1962, loving father of Scott (Sally) Atcheson of Carmel, IN and Courtney (Steve Bajt) Clinton of Plainfield, IL, adored grandfather of Kyle and Kelsey Atcheson; Angie (Steve) Stack, Zackry (fiancée, Arika Moen) Tyler and Cory Clinton, precious great-grandfather of Braelynn Stack, devoted son of the late Robert and Pauline Atcheson, dear brother of the late Phyllis (the late James (Tommy) Tomlinson), true “brother” to both sister in law Claudia and Dave Wittmer of Goodyear, AZ and the late Janis Murphey, fond uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.

Bob grew up in Milwaukee, attended Steuben Junior High and was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School, where he served as Senior Class President. He had an enduring friendship with four buddies that remains to this day. He received his bachelor degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, was a member of Delta Chi fraternity and worked at WGRE, the college radio station.

Bob was employed by BorgWarner Chemicals from 1962 – 1990 and later worked as a realtor with Coldwell Banker in Naperville until he retired. He was a longtime member of Community United Methodist Church in Naperville where he was proud to direct the restoration of the stained glass windows. He enjoyed photography, golf, music (Frank Sinatra, Steve Winwood, and Phil Collins played loudly at night on the back porch) and was an avid sports fan. Bob especially appreciated watching and supporting his children and grandchildren in all their education, sports, and family endeavors.

Memorial visitation Sunday, September 9, 2018, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

A celebration of Bob's life will follow Sunday, 1:00 PM in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Hannah Hwa-Young Chong officiating.
