James Lemezis

James “Jim” Lemezis, age 91, of McCandless Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

He was born July 23, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Sylvester and Esther (Lemke) Lemezis and was a brother to Sylvester, Thomas, and Ruth, all deceased.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and was an Electrical Engineer with Alcoa for 33 years. He had many assignments and transfers within the United States at various Alcoa operations and a four year assignment at operations in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. He retired in 1990. He was a lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

He was also retired from the United States Naval Reserves after 21 years of service at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He served as active duty during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Reserve Officers Association and the Association of the United State Navy.

James married Eileen Arndt in 1953 and they began a busy lifetime journey encompassing both his careers with the Navy and Alcoa and also together having four children: Ellen K. Holder, James M., Paula R. James and Mark S.; all who survive along with eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a math “wiz” and had an overall eye for detail, problem solving, discovering mistakes, and excellent decision making and advice. He was considered an expert in industrial power electrical engineering. He had many hobbies throughout the years including fishing, sailing, boating, gardening and classic automobiles. He had enjoyed his home in McCandless, Pennsylvania since 1981.

The family wishes to thank Allegheny Health Network Hospice nurse “Sammy” for all her wonderful support, care and comfort she provided to Jim for the past several months.

He will be privately laid to rest at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
