Of Cedarburg, passed away to eternal life on May 14, 2017 at the age of 86 years. Beloved wife of 64 years to the late Wesley Smith. Loving mother of Stephen (Lynne), Mark (Nancy), Craig (Valerie) Laurie (Olav) Vestol, Suzanne (Tom) Knebes and Julianne (Matt Zine) Smith. Proud grandma of Shannon (Brendan) Phelan, Max (Jenny) Buser, Melissa Buser, Robin (John) McDonagh, Kelly (Ryan) McWhorter, Lindsay Sanner; Wesley T., Chloe, Evan and Taylor Smith, Maya and Jacob Benford, and Andrea Vestol. Dear great-grandma of Oren, Paxton, Hannah, Henry, Julia, Ruby, and Kai. Dear sister Marlene ( Robert) Kehoe. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her parents Fritz and Anna Diers and her foster brother, Kenneth Jury.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11:00am at Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church (110 Division St. ) Thiensville. Interment Zur Ruhe Cemetery. In state on Monday at the church from 9:00am to 10:45am. Memorials to Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church appreciated.

Hedy was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School. She attended the State Teachers College and later taught at Brown Deer Elementary Schools.
Hedy was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will truly be missed.
