Kenneth John Ehlenbach

December 4, 1921 - August 15, 2016

Born into Eternal Life on August 15th, 2016, at the age of 94 years. Survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Grace L. (nee Ebert); his daughters, Julie Ann (James R.) Schmidt, and Mary Beth (Thomas A.) Haunty; his grandchildren, Sara Ceballos, Shannon Schmidt, Elisa Schmidt, Melissa Haunty, Alex Haunty and Joshua Haunty; siblings, Thomas T. Ehlenbach, Mary Ann (Delano) Ristow and Rita M. (Thomas C.) Lester; grand-children Michael and Isabelle; nieces and nephews; other family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur S. and Anna (nee Horst); and siblings, Ralph C., Clifford W, Joseph H., Anthony K., and Audrey M. Ehlenbach and Jean C. Schulz.

Kenneth served in the United States Army Air Corps in WW II, where he was a member of the 315th Troop Carrier Group. He was also a member of the Aviation Cadet Pilot Class of 43-K in the Central Training Command. Kenneth started flying in 1941 and continued flying throughout his life. At the time of his death, he was still a licensed, instrument-rated commercial pilot.

Kenneth graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee in 1940. After his military service in WWII, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.S. Degree in June 1950, and from U. W. Law School in 1956. After this he practiced Law in Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties, retiring in 2003. He is an Emeritus Member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Waukesha County Bar Association (of which he was a Past President), the Bar of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the Bar of the 8th Circuit U. S. Court of Appeals and the Bar of the United States Supreme Court. Kenneth was a member of the Community Council of the 440th Airlift Wing at Mitchell Field, which became the Community Council of the 128th Air Reserve at Mitchell Field; the Judge Advocate of the Civil Air Patrol (which he originally entered at the then Curtiss-Wright Airport in December 1941 when the CAP was first created by FDR) of said unit at Timmerman Field; Judge Advocate of the Navy League of the United States, Milwaukee Council; American Legion, Cudworth Post No. 23 for more than 60 years; and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. Kenneth  has been a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Parish since 1955 and is a Life Member of the Bishop Leo J. Brust Knights of Columbus Council # 3702. He lived his life loving God, cherishing his wife of 60 years and his family, and devoting himself to serving others.

Visitation at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1121 South 116th Street, on Saturday, August 20, from 10:00 AM-11:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Military honors will follow the Mass. Kenneth will then be cremated and his ashes will be privately interred at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the church.
