Menomonee Falls - Passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2021 at the age 86 years. His courage and determination to get every moment out of life and the love for his family, allowed him to persevere through a number of medical issues in recent years. Beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Tickler) for 66 years. Loving father of Brian (Julie) and Michael (Rhonda). Special grandfather to Michael, Leah, Lindsey, Eric (Emily), Jenna (Thomas), Gina and Matthew. Great Grandfather to Louella, Josephine and Kinley. Dear brother of Charles Emmer. Preceded in death by his parents Elroy and Grace Emmer, and brother Ronald. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

Darrell was born January 18, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Washington High School where he played football and baseball. Playing and coaching sports was always a part of his life and one of his many contributions to being a great father. He was also an avid golfer, making traditional Father's Day golf outings a lifelong memory. He was a Wisconsin sports fan who religiously watched the Badgers, Brewers, Bucks and Packers up until the last day before he passed away.

Darrell was kind of a "Jack Of All Trades" from draftsman, to advertising sales for WZMF radio and the Menomonee Falls Post newspaper, as well as executive sales in the food service industry for Geiser's and Jays snack foods. His can-do work ethic combined with his compassionate and caring nature was a cornerstone in raising his sons.

Darrell embraced life to the fullest and had an incredible sense of humor. He was a thoughtful and devoted husband, father and friend, who was always willing to help others through his kindness and generosity. He touched many lives, especially the residents and caregivers at Riverview Assisted Living facility, which was his last residence.

A memorial service will be held at SCHMIDT & BARTELT-MENOMONEE FALLS on Wednesday, September 1st, Visitation from 5PM – 7PM, with service to follow.
