Dan was born into an Irish family, the 8th of 9 children. Family was everything to Dan who loved traveling to his father's birth place in Ireland, Austria, and other parts of the world to spend time with loved ones. He enjoyed war films, action books, history, and animals. Dan actively supported every Wisconsin sports team (Go, Pack, Go!) and was renowned for his dancing, puns, and cheesy jokes, which typically left you shaking your head as he grinned.

After graduating from Washington High School in 1963, Dan worked his way through college, ultimately receiving a Masters in Social Work from UWM. He worked for Milwaukee County for over 34 years starting out as a social worker for the Department of Child Welfare and retiring as the Personnel Manager for the Milwaukee County Zoo. The Zoo being something Dan held very close to his heart.

Dan proudly served as President of AFSCME Council 48, was a member and officer of Milwaukee Elks Chapter 46, and was a member of The Austrian Club in honor of his wife's birthplace.

The family wishes to thank Luther Manor and Horizon Home Care & Hospice for the kind and gentle care given to Dan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, from 3:00 PM to 5:45 PM at WISCONSIN MEMORIAL PARK, CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES, 13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield. Funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM.
