Wednesday, March 14, 2018, age 78 years. Beloved husband for 43 years of Sandy (nee Belanger). Much loved father of Rozelle (Rick), Cheryl (Joe), Dena (David), Jeannie (Lance), Mark (Robin) and Jeff (Aida). Proud grandpa of Sara, Julia, Jake, Michael, Emma, Danielle, Levi, Ayla, Rachel, Ryan, Adam, Rebecca, Jacqui and Angela. Brother of Mark (Carroll) Uncle of Matt (Lulu). Also survived by other family and friends.

Bert was a graduate of Washington High School where he was an accomplished athlete. After high school he was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard. His work career began at General Motors, after which he began his career of owning and managing several businesses in the Milwaukee area that included Forest lanes, Olympic Lanes, the Palace Night Club, Badger and Capitol Car lots. Aside from his working life, Bert remained very active in coaching in the Southside Little League where he selected and coached the first female athlete in the 1970’s. He was an active member of the former South Shore YMCA, one of the founding members of the Hash House Harriers and participated in various adult sports. A sincere thank you to Drs. Barry Gimble, Mitchell Jacobson, Jule Wetherbee, Lingham Kumar and our special thank you to Dr. Suresh Misra, for all of your compassionate and dedicated care. Bert will be fondly remembered for instilling in his children and family a respect and love for the outdoors. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Private interment and military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
