In Memory

June Loose (Klein) - Class Of 1943

June Klein, 91, former resident of Midland, died peacefully Oct. 30, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor after 10 years of receiving expert and loving care by the staff of Ann Arbor's Huron Woods.

Born in Milwaukee, Wis., April 24, 1925, June Claire Loose was the third of four children born to Earl and Hilda (Kitzrow) Loose. She graduated from Milwaukee's Washington High School in 1943 and worked at First Wisconsin Bank until 1949.

In the summer of 1947 June met Merlyn Klein. They married on May 21, 1949 and soon began their family. The first of five of June and Merle's children, known in their youth as Kitty, Patty, Stevie, Jamie and Danny, were born in Milwaukee where the family lived until 1962. Between 1962 and 1964 the family lived in South Dakota, Missouri and North Dakota after which they settled in Michigan, first in East Lansing and eventually in Midland. The sixth child, Chris, was born in East Lansing and the seventh, Michael, was born in Midland. Many gatherings, which included parents, children, grandchildren and friends, were held in the Klein home on Noeske St.

Sadly, Merle died in 1979 at 53. June stayed on in her home for the next 27 years, during which time the Midland house remained the hub for gatherings and celebrations.

June is survived by her sister, Lorelei of Florida; her children, Katheryn Klein and Michael (Candee) Klein of Ann Arbor, Patricia Wakeman and Stephen Klein of Midland, James (Sally) Klein of Silverdale, Wash., Daniel (Loraine) Klein of Streamwood, Ill. and Chris (Sharon) Klein of Reston, Va. She also leaves behind 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and special niece, Kathy Fauth of Wisconsin.

June was preceded in death by her beloved Merlyn; her parents; her brother, Howard; her sister, Muriel; and her granddaughter, Gina Bornheim.

June will be remembered in the Midland community for her unfailing attendance at local garage and estate sales and also for the garage sales she held over the years. June had a talent for the second hand and she helped furnish her children's homes with her friends, sometimes right down to the pots and pans.

We mourn the death of this dear woman while giving thanks for her humor, generosity, wisdom and long life.

The family requests that memorials be sent to Huron Woods, 5361 McAuley Dr., Ann Arbor, Michigan 48106.
