Marnee Lou Shannon

September 2, 1949 - August 1, 2020

Marnee Shannon, age 70, passed away on Saturday, August 1 st , after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born to Fred and Lorraine Wetzel on September 2 nd , 1949. Marnee was proud of being born and raised in Milwaukee. She attended Washington High School and graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in education. She was an English, shorthand, and business teacher at Martin Luther High School in Greendale after graduating from Whitewater. After her daughters were born, Marnee quit teaching to care for her family full time.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also loved spending time with friends, crafting, and going out for long walks. In the summer you could find her planting flowers in her yard or spending time at Moose Lake with her family. In winter, she loved to bake, especially lots of cookies at Christmastime. Marnee was a wonderful mom who made birthdays and holidays very special. She was always there for her girls, and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She will be remembered for her kindness, patience, and love for people. Marnee truly enjoyed spending time with others. She also valued and found comfort in her Christian faith.

She leaves behind her husband of 46 years Bill Shannon, daughters Heather (Chris McGown) and Lindsay (Rob Ebert), granddaughter Alexandra, sister Dianne LaKamp of Denver, and niece Mindy Dolan of Seattle. She also leaves behind her beloved grandpuppy, Edward.

Marnee’s family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and other caregivers at Lake Country Health Service in Oconomowoc for the care they gave Marnee and for their genuine kindness towards her in her final years.
