I have fond memories of Bernard, whom I remember as Tom. Tom was a semester ahead of me and we were friends at Peckham J.H.S. and on through high school.
We used to skate on the rink in Sherman Park and play with his HO gauge trains in the winter and ride our bikes, work summer part-time jobs in the warm seasons. I remember him as a good football player (I was not), and a lover of motorcycles while we went to Washington.
I remember his younger brother (Jerome?) whom we called Eddie if my memory serves me.
He died too young, but I will always remember him as a rugged, somewhat quiet, but always decent guy.
