In Memory

Gail Thomas - Class Of 1957

October 22, 1938 - April 8, 2020

Gail I. Thomas ended her short battle with aggressive leukemia at the Lawless Hospice in Mequon on Tuesday, April 8, 2020.

Gail was born October 22, 1938 to John & Ilythe (Lehman) Thomas in Milwaukee, WI.

In her words, life was a grand adventure.

While raising 5 children in Grafton, Gail continued her education and earned her degree in psychology in 1980 and later her master’s degree in 1986. She practiced her profession for the Washington County Department of Social Services.

Besides helping people, practicing her strong faith, enjoying her family and many friends, she found joy in everything she did, and often had a great pun to spark a giggle.

Gail found an extended family and much fulfillment through her community at St. Joseph Parish in Grafton (as Lector, Minister of Eucharist, choir member, volunteer, etc.) as well as participating in many activities at the Grafton Senior Center, especially her joy of being involved with the Golden Tones, where she was known to wear her bunny or marching band costume to be silly and stir a laugh.

She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

To our dearest Mother, Granny & friend: “We know that St. Peter welcomed you with a shiny, new eternal halo and gave you a special seat at the heavenly sheepshead table”.

She is survived by her 5 children, Heidi Bierman of Green Bay WI, Michael (Kris) Bierman of Greenwood IN, Donald (Nancy) Bierman of St. Johns, AZ, Robert (Gayle) Bierman of Port Washington WI, and William Jr. (Tanya) Bierman of Cedarburg WI. Further survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard “Dick” Thomas, granddaughter Grace Bierman and dear friend Judy Kabara.

A gathering and celebration of life will be scheduled in the future.

In lieu of flowers, donation to the family are suggested to be used toward the Los Toros Mission.

A special thank you to Lawless Hospice of Mequon for the exceptional care and compassion in her final days.
